What consumes your mind, controls your body, and controls your life.
You are your thoughts!!
We all experience thoughts and have no problem identifying them and speaking about them to others. You’re your thoughts. The rest of you is bone and flesh. According to National Science Foundation, we get 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Eighty percent were negative and 95 percent were repeating thoughts from the previous day. The human brain processes 11 million bits every second, but the conscious mind can handle only 40-50 bits per second. From a neuroscientific point of view, they are certainly caused by brain function. Thoughts are generated when neurons fire. But we do not yet have a solid idea regarding what it is about brain function that gives rise to them.
It seems that, before one experiences a conscious thought, unconscious brain processes work behind the scenes to generate the thought. Thoughts can be idea-like, memory-like, picture-like, or song-like. They are usually short-lived, discrete events, unlike continuous events such as the constant murmurs of air-conditioners or rain. Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. Your thoughts shape your vision. You see what you choose to see. Every thought is followed by an emotion, with repetition leading to memorization, this makes our belief system and in short, our personality. So, what we don’t change, we choose and develop an addiction.
What consumes your mind, controls your body, and controls your life. This may be alcohol, drugs, money, power, sex, and all other vices that you can imagine. Hence, all we need is to practice thinking and act positively. Twenty-one to 28 days of practice and your neurobiology changes.
But it could take longer. The answer will depend on how deeply ingrained the behavior is that you want to change, as well as your own limiting beliefs. So do think about it seriously!!
Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. Talk with your mind, before you talk with your tongue. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. In turn, you will never learn how to control your behavior. When your thoughts change, your life also changes. The power to change., lies in you and within you!!
If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you’d never think a negative thought again. What if those individuals who committed suicide, showed the same courage to live then, they would have been around us today!! Make your mind stronger than your emotions or else you will be a failure always. With a new day comes new strength and new thoughts. Your thoughts create your reality. Your mind is more powerful than you know. Once you have control over your mind, anything is possible. Or else, someone else will control you.
Our minds can be our biggest challenge and obstacle. Yet, if we manage it skilfully, it can be our biggest ally helping us to reach new heights of personal development and work performance. Consequently, choose your thoughts carefully. Keep what brings you peace, release what brings you suffering. Also, know that happiness is just a thought away!!
